about

2015 - A turbulent year on Planet Earth. As we all struggle with the realities of violence around us, of injustice and greed, we look for answers. Our contribution here at Ropeadope is to nurture and support those humans who bring love and light into existence through music, and there are many who have trusted us on this journey. Our intent with this compilation was to release a collection of positive and uplifting songs, and for the most part we have succeeded. But as we put the collection together a few tracks of solemn reflection came into the mix, and a few tracks of caution about the issues that we face as humans. The result is both an inward meditation and an outward message of love and light.

The album stands in four parts - EARTH, LOVE, JOY, and PEACE - four elements of the solution with three tracks that just felt like interludes. And of course we could not complete the album without some unreleased gems from Light Blue Movers and Matt Cappy featuring Marsha Ambrosius. Please enjoy the music while your planet heals.

Chapter 1 - EARTH. The state of the planet in 2015

01: Adja - Elikeh, from the EP Kondona. The lyrics do not translate well, but the story is one of systemic violence - ‘In the ghetto we fear no one, But when police show, we go hide.

02: Get Together - Karikatura, From the album EYES WIDE OPEN. A lament for humans to get together, for unity of spirit and action.

03: Stop The Violence Remix - Jojo Abbot and Peter Matson remix the Bill Dickens track in an afrobeat style. A simple plea.

04: Living The Connection - Freekbass, from the album CINCINNATI. A comment on the multi screen world and lack of attachment - ‘Are we living the connection?’

05: I Know - Quizflo, from the album Out From The Nest. The road IS rough.

06: Mutobo March - Jeremy Danneman, from the album Lady Boom Boom. Jeremey’s wandering song gives us a moment to reflect on the beauty of all people, with the clear focus of the first people.

07: Interlude 1: Alegria (Children’s Dance) - Lars Bartkuhn, from the album PASSION DANCE ORCHESTRA. Also titled ‘Children’s Dance’, a soft transition and gentle reminder of beauty.

Chapter 2 - LOVE. The all encompassing love of life on Earth.

08: Across The Heartland - Ethan Farmer, from the album FARMER’S VINEYARD. Ethan continues the journey around our beautiful planet.

08: Sew - Malika Tirolien, from the album Sur La Voie Ensoleillee. A beautiful song of love and light, en francais.

10: Free Your Dreams - Chantae Cann w/Snarky Puppy, from the album FAMILY DINNER VOLUME 1. A positive and simple meditation on freedom within.

11: Peace + Love - Farnell Newton, from the album READY TO ROLL. ‘I don’t know what else to do, but keep on spreading peace and love through music. Agree.

12: Amour T’es La - Magda Giannikou w/Snarky Puppy, from the album FAMILY DINNER VOLUME 1. A lovely reminder of the joy and excitement of LOVE. Never Forget.

13: Get Free - Kuf Knotz, from the album A POSITIVE LIGHT. An encouraging reminder that freedom is within us.

14: Interlude 2: Theme - DJ Klock. A reminder of the perils of being gentle in a violent world. DJ Klock struggled with this world, and chose his own exit at a young age. Also a reminder of the beauty of music that lives forever.

Chapter 3 - JOY Life is for living, loving, and dancing. Get it.

15: Soke Ijo - Ajoyo, from the album AJOYO. Dance.

16: Feet On The Floor - Big Sam’s Funky Nation (Single). DANCE.

17: Vibration - Sidewalk Chalk, from the album SHOULDER SEASON. Dance.

18: One Big Party - Shaun Martin, from the album SEVEN SUMMERS. DANCE.

19: Thickmiss - Killiam Shakespeare. Groove.

20: Live and Love - Quizflo, from the album OUT FROM THE NEST. Live and Love ALL LIFE.

21: Interlude 3: HUW. Every day has a night.

Chapter 4 PEACE. Reflection on what we all desire.

22: Desert - Jonathan Scales Fourchestra, from the album MIXTAPE SYMPHONY. We must find our way.

23: Suite For The Blue Planet - Jesse Fischer, from the album DAY DREAMER. It’s a beautiful planet.

24: Prayer - Mark de Clive-Lowe, from the album CHURCH. A solemn meditation on the beauty and the importance of the inner life.

25: Serenity - Light Blue Movers (unreleased). Reaching out in the night. ‘I will hope for you, will you hope for me?’

26: Stop The Violence - Bill Dickens, from the album THA TRUTH. A necessary reminder of a simple truth we all must work on.

27: Amazing Grace - Matt Cappy featuring Marsha Ambrosius. The traditional song we all know, interpreted in a bold and powerful way. The grace and the glory.

SO THERE IT IS - A GIFT FROM THE ARTISTS OF ROPEADOPE TO THE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD. MAY WE ALL FIND OUR WAY, ALONE AND TOGETHER.

Track Name: Malika Tirolien - Sew
Sew
(It’s you)

Everything you've done is never enough
Everything you saw is so small when you compare it
Everything you know is like a drop in the ocean
You think the grass is always greener at your neighbour's

But life is not like that
Every roads bring to the same place
Nobody's closer
We all have the same importance

Chorus

If you don't love your body your spirit and what's in your heart who's gonna love them for you?
If you're not happy with the path you chose and everything you lived that defines you who's gonna be happy for you?
If you don't love your body your spirit and what's in your heart who's gonna love them for you?
Only one person can be happy about the path you chose and the
experiences you've had that define you, only one person can be happy for you, it's YOU

If you were more beautiful
If you were smarter
Passionate love would heal your wounds
Success would naturally follow
A new day would be SMILING at you

Pre-chorus

But life is not like that
Every road brings to the same destination
No path is better than another
If you are here, you are supposed to be here

Chorus

Life is hard
I'm sure you already heard that chorus
How many times in your life did somebody tell you this?
If it is not the society who's on the road of perdition, it is our souls, poor
sinners who need absolution
Everywhere you look, there is negativity
So many spirits conditioned to be afraid
Bad feelings that smell like lies are procreating
Because we are imprisoned in our minds like animals
Always have a reason not to be satisfied
Cause You don't wanna realize you were made perfect
your ego takes too much place to much dirt to much space and your soul is
tired of trying to chase
bad vibrations in all directions that are burning
as radiation and humiliation can hurt
Pay attention meditate protect yourself and remember
Love is the only remedy
God's light is shinning since the world was born
But you are the one who choose if you wanna walk in the daylight or
tremble in the dark
Don't let your confidence walk
When your doubts are driving a BMW
No time to waste nothing is impossible
Don't be afraid
Love never dies
And from A to Z: you are the master of your faith

Chorus
Track Name: Snarky Puppy & Chantae Cann - Free Your Dreams
I'm ready to live this thing called life
I'm take'n it one day at a time
Won't let the bad moments change my mind
I'm free'n my dreams from deep inside

And I'm not try'n to be something I'm not
I'm just try'n to use, use what I got
Over time you'll see that I may get a little bit weak
But it don't mean that I still don't have a dream

So I say,
REACH UP & touch the sky, fly high
JUMP UP and kiss the sun, you've already won
LOOK UP but don't look back, you're on the right track
WAKE UP & free your dreams into reality

I'm take'n each moment as if it's my last
Don't wanna rush my lessons, no
Embrace'n my future, learning from my past
I'm count'n all my blessings OH OH OH

And I'm not try'n to be something I'm not
I'm just try'n to use, use what I got
Over time you'll see that I may get a little bit weak
But it don't mean that I still don't have a dream

So I say,
REACH UP & touch the sky, fly high
JUMP UP and kiss the Sun, you've already won
LOOK UP but don't look back, you're on the right track
WAKE UP & free your dreams into reality

FREE YOUR DREAMS
FREE YOUR DREAMS
FREE YOUR DREAMS
FREE YOUR DREAMS

Look up
Reach up
Jump up
Wake up
Track Name: Snarky Puppy & Magda Giannikou - Amour T'es La
Bouquets des roses

Chansons qui parlent que d’une chose

Amour, amour

Tremblement de terre

Collier qui porte mon bonheur

Amour, toujours

Amour, t’es là?

Amour, je cherche ton schéma

Amour, c’est toi?

Amour, pourquoi
tu te caches de moi

Rêve des bisous

Deux mots, qui caressent le cou

Amour, amour

Monde à l’envers

Qui va porter mon bonheur

Amour, toujours

Amour, t’es là?

Amour, je cherche ton schéma

Amour, c’est toi?

Amour, je sais pas vraiment

Amour, pourquoi?

Amour, pourquoi tu te caches de moi?

Chaque matin je me lève, je me lève très tôt

Pour aller au boulot

Ce matin j’ai l’impression

Quelqu’un va repondre à ma question

Amour, t’es là?

Amour, je cherche ton schéma

Amour, c’est toi?

Amour, je sais pas vraiment

Amour, t’es fou

Amour, je te cherche, t’es où?

Amour, pourquoi,
amour
Pourquoi, tu te caches de moi?
Track Name: Big Sam's Funky Nation - Feet On The Floor
I got my feet, on the floor...
(Repeat 4xs)

U may want it...
U can't have it...
Taste so sweet...
Living lavish...

Now u got it...
Just like me...
Do u love it?
Now u see...

I got my feet, on the floor (repeat)
Track Name: Light Blue Movers - Serenity
Who's gonna hold you

Tell you not to worry

At the end of every day

And are you findin

Some silver lining

Is it underneath your skin

I would hope for you

Would you hope for me

When we're searching for serenity

We're searching for serenity

Just look around you

There's no need to worry

At the end of every day

I'll be here waitin

If you're strength is fadin

Together we'll stay strong

I would hope for you

Would you hope for me

When we're searching for serenity

We're searching for serenity

I've tried to figure out all these years

What makes people feel so cold, filled with fear

I said listen, yeah, listen, said listen yeah listen

Listen to the ones you love, listen to the ones you love

I would hope for you

Would you hope for me

When we're searching for serenity

We're searching for serenity
